This specimen of Lemurian Quartz with Halloysite inclusions comes from the Quipama region, in the Boyacá department, Colombia, a locality renowned for its original colored quartz. Mango Quartz is distinguished by its yellow to orange hue which is due to inclusions of a clay mineral called halloysite. This halloysite, an aluminosilicate, gives quartz its characteristic color. This particular coloring evokes the flesh of the mango fruit, hence its name. Lemurian quartz is characterized by its distinctive horizontal striations on the faces of the crystal. This specimen has a unique heart shape.
