This unique specimen of Mango Quartz comes from the Quipama region in the Boyacá department of Colombia, a locality renowned for its original colored quartz. Mango Quartz is distinguished by its yellow to orange hue which is due to inclusions of a clay mineral called halloysite. This halloysite, an aluminosilicate, gives quartz its characteristic color. This particular coloring evokes the flesh of the mango fruit, hence its name.
