A well-defined cluster of pyrite crystals exhibiting a transitional morphology between cubic and pyritohedral forms

At first impression, the crystals present as strongly developed cubes, with broad, reflective faces and pronounced striations. Closer examination reveals subtle but distinct modification along the edges and corners, where pyritohedral faces begin to emerge, creating a complex and dynamic crystal habit.

This interplay between dominant cubic geometry and secondary pyritohedral development gives the specimen a structural character that differs from typical cubic pyrite clusters. Examples showing this degree of transitional expression in well-sized crystals are comparatively uncommon.

The metallic luster is bright and consistent across the specimen, with well-preserved crystal faces and only minor natural contact marks.

Measuring 165 × 100 × 60 mm and weighing 1556 g, the piece offers substantial presence while maintaining clarity of crystal form, making it suitable both for focused mineralogical collections and as a visually strong display specimen.

From the Huanzala Mine, a locality known for producing a wide range of pyrite crystal habits, including intermediate and modified forms.
