A large and mineralogically rich pyrite specimen featuring well-formed cubic crystals distributed across an extensive matrix. The pyrite cubes show clear striations and a bright metallic luster, forming distinct crystal groupings with good geometric definition.
Chalcopyrite occurs throughout the specimen as brassy-toned intergrowths, adding warmth and subtle color variation. Sphalerite is present as darker crystalline phases, often concentrated between the pyrite formations, contributing depth and contrast to the overall structure.
The matrix is extensively developed with fine crystalline quartz and secondary manganocalcite, creating a highly textured surface with multiple growth stages clearly visible. The manganocalcite introduces lighter zones and microcrystalline coatings, which may exhibit fluorescence under UV light.
This specimen reflects a complex hydrothermal sequence typical of Huanzala, where early sulfide mineralization was followed by successive quartz and carbonate deposition. The interplay between these phases results in a layered and visually dynamic composition.
