An exceptionally large-scale pyrite specimen featuring dense pyritohedral crystal growth over a quartz matrix. The surface is extensively covered with well-developed pyrite crystals, forming a continuous metallic layer with high reflectivity and complex geometry.
The pyrite crystals display a dominant pyritohedral habit, with sharply defined faces and a strong metallic luster. Variations in crystal size and orientation create a dynamic, multi-level surface that interacts intensely with light, producing a rich and shifting visual effect.
The underlying quartz matrix is visible between crystal clusters, providing structural support and contrast. Fine crystalline quartz adds texture and depth, highlighting the layered growth history of the specimen.
This piece reflects a well-developed hydrothermal sequence from Huanzala, where early quartz formation was followed by extensive pyrite crystallization under conditions favoring pyritohedral growth. The result is a specimen with both geological clarity and strong visual presence.
